I like the meat between them.
Those who don't agree, I think,
have never truly seen them--
Beginnings are fuzzy, still learning to walk,
and yet to find their voice.
While endings are sharper, I must there balk,
for few, by then's their choice.
But betwixt them both and tying them up
is far greater the joy found within.
For, as they say, the fun's in getting there.
'Tis no greater a prize to win.

they were so rockin'! i've never heard IWP so loud before!
got my ep and my poster so i'm happy.
plus christie recognized me and waved at me, which i thought was sweet. and i chatted with boyd and kim who said the shows have been selling out. i think it was really smart of them to beef up their stuff so it's more in keeping with what the audience was expecting, you know? they didn't really do that so much on the nfg tour and i think it was to their detriment.
so can i assume you were there?
I never been to that venue before and was running late, so I parked at a expired meter, then rushed up to pay to get in. Eisley wasn't on yet, the guy at the door said it'd be another 10 min, I went to move my car, when I got back 5 mins later I think they were on their 2nd song, because I saw a setlist later and I'll be there for you was first but I didn't even hear it, which sucked cause I love that song...
I wanted to make sure I got the EP so I headed to the merch table during The Valley, it caused me to miss most of the song, which I regret now because I'm really loving it on the EP, it's way better than all the other new songs I heard, not that they are bad. Plus I had to head back to my car and pay for parking after the Eisley set and I dropped off the poster and my jacket, so I couldn't get it signed... I did wait in line and got the EP sleeve signed though, which was nice.
I thought Eisley was awesome as always, but Say Anything was not very good... the crowd energy was great, but I really don't care for their music. I was cold without my jacket and was very close to leaving, it's kind of sad that all those people were so amped up for them and barely cared about Eisley, when Eisley is so great while Say Anything is borderline lame.
By the way, did you go with a friend and walked toward the merch table while the band was there? I thought someone that walked by looked alot like you, but then again I never seen you live and in motion before so I could be wrong.
i didn't stay for SA--don't care about their music at all. (good to know i'm not the only one.) but the first two bands were alright.
and i agree, valley is so so good! i love ambulance too though--it's v. emotionally moving. i can't get into 192 days yet (and don't care for the TE cover at all) but the stacy stuff is so rad!
anywho, sorry you had a bad time with missing songs and having to go back and forth to your car and all that. don't fret too much though because next time they're in dallas (hopefully) they'll be headlining so you'll get to hear what you missed plus a bunch more!
Again Eisley was awesome for the very short time they were on, but I wouldn't have been as disappointed about that entire show if it wasn't for the fact that the last show I saw was mute math and they were so great. I pretty much went to see them based on your advise alone, since I don't even know anyone else that liked them. I only like a handful of their songs out of both of their cds, but everything they played just sounded great live, and it was one of the better shows I been to for sure. I remember you said Stacy was going out with their drummer? really? He was badass doing what he does and totally carrying the band playing drums, but the guy looks like he must be about 30, especially with that Will Arnett hairline... whatever works I guess.
Yep The Valley is awesome, and I really like the reference to the EP title, I was wondering why it was called fire kite. Personally I thought the tune of the song could have picked up a bit stronger after "...take me home", but who am I to question that... I'm still trying to like ambulance more, I think the reference of an "ambulance" seems too specific for an Eisley song, and I'm trying to get pass that.
